About the Founder and Director
John Kimmons Gray, a native of Mississippi, received a Doctor of Philosophy from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (2019), under the advisement of Dr. Scott Aniol. His dissertation is titled “The Preacher of Spiritual Worship: Benjamin Keach’s (1640–1704) Desire for Primitive Purity in Worship.” As a Baptist liturgist, he desires to deeply examine both the worship practice and theology of Baptists throughout history. In addition to this important research, he is interested in both studying and teaching topics relating to worship history, worship philosophy, worship theology, aesthetics, congregational song, and Baptist studies. As a vocalist (baritone), he enjoys both teaching and performing. In 2013, he received a Bachelor of Music in Church Music: Voice from Mississippi College, and in 2016, he earned a Master of Music in Church Music: Music Ministry from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
